Recipe · 1:30 brew
AeroPress
One cup, a gentle press and hardly any waiting. A 1:30 steep, then about 30 seconds to press.
What Is an AeroPress?
The AeroPress is a small brewer that makes one cup at a time. You steep coffee in hot water in its chamber, then press it through a paper filter with the plunger, straight into your mug. It sits somewhere between a pour-over and a French press. Popular models include the AeroPress Original, the AeroPress Go and the AeroPress Clear.
Why It's Great
It's quick, forgiving and very hard to break. The press pushes the coffee through in seconds, and the paper filter keeps the cup clean and bright. It's small and light enough to take to work, camping or on a trip.
What You'll Love
How quick it is on a busy morning. The soft hiss at the end of the press that tells you it's done. Popping the used coffee straight into the compost and a rinse that takes seconds.
Our AeroPress Recipe
- Use 1 part coffee to 15.5 parts water. We start with 14 g of coffee and 217 g of water.
- Grind fine.
- Add the coffee, then all the water. Stir, then set the plunger on top.
- Let it steep for 1:30.
- Press slowly for about 30 seconds, and stop when you hear a hiss.
- The chamber holds about 250 g of water, so 16 g of coffee is the most for one brew.
- Taste, then change one thing. Too bitter? Grind a little coarser next time. Too watery? Grind a little finer.
